The consumption of sleeping pills in old age is (too) high

Benzodiazepines are drugs used to treat sleep problems. However, they also have side effects that increase with age. Benzodiazepines should therefore not be taken for long periods of time. A study commissioned by the Swiss Medical Board (SMB) looked at sleep drug use in Switzerland and showed that there is cause for concern.

The study was recently published in the journal "BMJ Open" (see http://bmjopen.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/bmjopen-2019-031156).
