Remuneration decisions: benefit of registers still limited

The medical registers operated in connection with remuneration decisions have not always fulfilled expectations in the past. The Swiss Medical Board has therefore commissioned a study to in-vestigate how the usefulness of these registers could be im-proved in the future.

The study by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences concludes that the following four measures would be suitable for this purpose:

  1. Registers for remuneration decisions must have clear and realisable objectives.
  2. Stakeholders should be involved in the design of a register in order to improve acceptance and increase willingness to participate.
  3. There is a need for a legal or collectively agreed regulation on the structure and organisation of the register.
  4. Data collection should be simplified and possible synergies with existing surveys (e.g. for ANQ, Federal Statistical Office or SwissDRG) should be exploited.

The study (in German) is available on the SMB website (link).
