The surgical removal of liver metastases, a highly specialist intervention, in cases of colorectal cancer may represent a suitable therapy for improved survival and quality of life. The Swiss Medical Board specialist committee reached this conclusion in a recently published report. One precondition is careful diagnosis and indication presented by an interdisciplinary tumour board.
